Thin Film Interference Spectrum
Thin Film Interference Spectrum
This Demonstration simulates a thin film interference spectrum (Newton colors) versus the retardation (in nanometers). This simple simulation is for a standard sRGB computer monitor (with gamma set to 2.2) and assumes Standard Illuminant D65 (a simulation of natural daylight). Such interference spectra are seen in soap bubbles and oil films on water. Note that these are not "rainbow" colors.
