The left graphic shows the upper-left half of an

matrix of hysterons. A hysteron is a nonideal relay or Schmitt trigger, with two states: {off, 0, yellow} or {on, 1, red}.

. The right graphic shows the corresponding hysteresis curve. At a given point

value is the proportion of switched-on hysterons. This value depends on the history of

. The curve stores the history of the last 300 points and the red point is the current point.
