Stanley's Congo Expedition
Henry Morton Stanley (January 28, 1841–May 10, 1904) mounted an expedition in 1874 that charted Lake Victoria, and from 1874 to 1877 he traced the course of the Congo River. He started the expedition with 356 people at Bogamoyo on November 17, 1874. After 999 days, on August 9, 1877, Stanley reached the mouth of the Congo River with 114 people.
