A radial cam converts a rotational motion into a translational motion of the follower. The displacement of the follower is determined by the cam's profile.
This Demonstration generates a cam profile starting from a displacement diagram defined by a set of locators. The first, second, and third derivatives of the follower's displacement (velocity, acceleration, and jerk) are plotted. For smooth operation, they must be continuous and finite across the entire range of the cam angle.
