An icosahedron and a matching golden rhombohedron are joined to form a unit. Such units can be arranged to form helices in a number of ways. In the two extreme positions of the arrangement (when the first four sliders are either all to the left or all to the right), the rhombohedra meet at their vertices to form a helix with a large or a small pitch. Various helices can also be formed in the intermediate positions.
