Driving a Piston
Driving a Piston
We can understand the motion of the piston-crankshaft assembly by using the slider to drive the piston. In an IC engine, fuel and air are combined in the piston chamber under high pressure and are ignited by a spark plug. The controlled explosion forces the piston out and drives the mechanical assembly. By moving the slider, we see how the reciprocating motion is converted to rotary motion.
