Curving Grades with Two Constraints
Curving Grades with Two Constraints
This is a simple way to curve an arbitrary grade distribution, controlling both average and standard deviation. Each of the five inputs represents a possible raw grade (55, 65, …, 95). Slide it to the value corresponding to the number of students receiving that grade. The Demonstration computes the curved grade for each raw grade in order to conform to the expectation that the average grade is 75 and the standard deviation of the grades is 15.
