This Demonstration shows families of normals to the curve . Given a curve , points at a distance along the normals are the so-called offset curves. Even for smooth curves, these offset curves frequently develop cusps. In this Demonstration, the original curve is shown in black, the normals are shown in red, and the offset curves are shown in blue.
