Control of Thermal Runaway of an Exothermic Reaction by Coupling with an Endothermic Reaction
This Demonstration analyzes the control of thermal runaway of an exothermic chemical reaction taking place in the inner tube of a double pipe plug flow reactor cooled by a cocurrent endothermic reaction that takes place in the annulus.
The analysis requires the simultaneous solution of four coupled first-order ordinary differential equations to describe conversion and temperature profiles within the inner pipe and in the annular region; details are shown in [1].
