Comet Moving about the Sun

time

This Demonstration gives you an impression of a comet moving about the Sun according to Newton's and Kepler's laws. According to these laws, the orbit should be hyperbolic, parabolic, or elliptic (a circular orbit is a limiting case of this last). Furthermore, the area swept out by the radius-vector per unit of time will be constant, as is shown here.
