AM and FM Modulation of ASCII Input
AM and FM Modulation of ASCII Input
Continuous sinusoidal oscillations can be used to transmit discrete data such as ASCII-encoded characters. Click the characters to build a message or "reset" to clear it. The binary ASCII code is displayed for each character, as well as an example of a modulated signal containing the entire message. Toggle between AM and FM modulation: AM uses high amplitudes (1.5) for ones and low amplitudes (0.5) for zeros; FM uses high frequencies for ones and low frequencies for zeros. You can also change the carrier frequency.
