This Demonstration maps a cellular automaton (CA) onto the surface of a cylinder. To make it a little fancier, instead of elementary automata, a 1-dimensional, range-2 semi-totalistic CA is used. The periodicity of the boundary condition is emphasized by the gray dots located where the stitching of the opposite edges of the array meet. According to the common convention, the CA evolves from top to bottom.
