3D Transformations Applied to a NURBS Pavilion
Nonuniform rational B-spline (NURBS) curves and surfaces can be used to construct many interesting objects. The starting point for showing the transformational possibilities of NURBS is a simplified pavilion, inspired by the Z-Plus Pavilion [1].
This Demonstration visualizes ten types of transformations in 3D: curve translation and rotation, surface rotation, extrusion, sweeping, lathe, twisting, bending, shearing, and tapering. For some of the ten examples, the grid of control points of the pavilion/cupola can be switched on/off as an option. To show the essentials, the pavilion can be hidden in the first seven transformations.
