Sunflower Seed Arrangements

number of seeds

This Demonstration shows the distribution of sunflower seeds as a function of the number of seeds[1]. Generally, sunflowers have 800–2000 seeds. The function has the form
θ=
2π
2
ϕ
n
,
r=c
n
, where
ϕ
is the golden ratio and
c
is an arbitrary constant (here
1
).
