Adiabatic Flash Distillation of a Benzene-Toluene Mixture
Adiabatic Flash Distillation of a Benzene-Toluene Mixture
Consider a binary mixture composed of benzene and toluene. This mixture is fed into an adiabatic flash drum operating at 760 mmHg.
You can set the feed temperature and composition (i.e. benzene mole fraction). The feed is assumed to be liquid at the high pressure of the system.
The Demonstration plots the feed location in the enthalpy-composition or Ponchon–Savarit diagram. The tie line (or isotherm) is also represented in this diagram. The Demonstration displays the composition of the two phases leaving the flash drum, the temperature of the drum, and the flash distillation setup.
