Batch computation jobs are now supported in the European Union
Wolfram Compute Services simplifies batch computation through its deep, built-in integration with the Wolfram Language. There is no need for complex setup, virtual machine configuration, or cluster management. Everything is streamlined into two simple functions: RemoteBatchSubmit and RemoteBatchMapSubmit together with the "WolframBatch" provider.
Up to now all computations actually took place in the United States. For example, if you submitted a batch job from from Madrid in Spain your code and data would travel all the way to a server somewhere in the United States and execute there. Then, when you were ready to collect the result of your computation it would download from the United States. It all works great, but it is somewhat inefficient especially for batch jobs that involve large amounts of data. For this reason, we have now added a new geographical zone where you can send your computations: the European Union.
So how does this actually work? Well, in Version 14.3 you can now specify a new remote provider setting named “RemoteGeoZone”. There are two supported geo zones: United States and European Union. Here is how you specify a remote geo zone:
In[]:=
job=RemoteBatchSubmitGeoGraphicsEdgeForm[Black],GeoStyling["ReliefMap"],Polygon,GeoBackground->"Plain",RemoteProviderSettings-><|"RemoteGeoZone"->"EuropeanUnion"|>
Out[]=
RemoteBatchJobObject
This job will execute on a server in Europe. When the jobs succeeds:
In[]:=
job["JobStatus"]
Out[]=
Succeeded
You can retrieve the result from the European-based server. As with the original United States geo zone, the results of your computation are stored for up to two weeks and are deleted after this time period.
In[]:=
job["EvaluationResult"]
Out[]=
The introduction of a dedicated European Union geo zone represents a significant milestone in making Wolfram's batch computation infrastructure more globally accessible and performance-oriented. The Wolfram Language now provides a more seamless and efficient experience for high-performance batch processing while addressing regional data considerations. This update ensures that you have the tools necessary to execute complex computations with a localized optimization.
