In this notebook, I will show some of the data available about the spreading of COVID-19 in Brazil. This is a basic report of the situation here.

The beginning of COVID-19
In February, 25th, a Brazilian business man came from Italy. He was in Italy from February 9th to 21th. This period was considered as the COVID-19 contamination “boom” in Europe. At that time, more than 320 people had got infected and 11 had died by COVID-19 in Italy.
For us, all of it began in São Paulo.

In Brazil, São Paulo is the most populated and important city.The city is located in the state with the same name, São Paulo. One can see in the map below that the city has metropolitan cities. So, the population is even higher than the number shown above, if we count the vicinity cities.

To show you how it started and how it is now, I obtained a CSV from the Brazilian Health Secretary Website. All data is divided by date and in each date they divide the report by state. In the beginning, they started to report suspects, refuses and confirmed cases. However, nowadays they are reporting only confirmed cases and deaths.
We can see the confirmed cases reports from March 3rd to 24th,

Inspired by Jofre Espigule-Pons, I used the function that he developed in his post , to show how the number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 are increasing in Brazil. It shows the confirmed cases in each state by day. It also shows (below the date) the total number of confirmed cases. Government measures
Even with the data showing that the virus is spreading and the WHO recommending that every country should do a mass test to find who is infected to isolate them, the Brazilian government said that they will not do it. They also say that only the serious cases will be tested (https://g1.globo.com/bemestar/coronavirus/noticia/2020/03/16/apos-apelo-da-oms-para-testes-em-massa-brasil-mantem-foco-nos-casos-graves-e-diz-estudar-importacao-de-kits-rapidos.ghtml). The WHO justify their recommendation saying that it could decrease the curve of contamination.
For me, the worst thing that happened here is that even with the increasing number of COVID - 19 cases in Brazil, our President said that all of it was a just a media hysteria. As Reuters published, "Bolsonaro voiced his frustration over business and commercial closures affecting the economy and called a decision to close churches to stop the spread of coronavirus " absurd."".
A lot of people are starting to understand that we need to work together as a community. We are not in total quarantine but I think that we will do it in the next week or so.
Conclusions
This is a computational essay. I wanted to do something about coronavirus, so I decided to create this notebook based on data from my country.
We have to wait for the next days to see what is going to happen. The numbers are increasing all over the world, except China, but we have to stay at home and to be patient. I think that the government will succeed in this endeavor. We will won this fight.
