Lattice Multiplication

The lattice method is an alternative to long multiplication. The multiplicand is written on top of a grid and the multiplier down its right side. The least significant digits of the sums along the shaded diagonals plus carries give the digits of the result. The yellow lines illustrate the elementary multiplications for each cell of the polynomial grid.
