We’re happy to announce a new release of the Wolfram Language extension for Visual Studio Code! You can get it from the VS Code Marketplace here, or install it directly from within VS Code by searching for “wolfram” in the extensions tab:
This update includes four key improvements:
◼
Support of Wolfram Agent Tools
◼
VSNB notebooks are now supported with LSP features
◼
Evaluating code selections in a terminal
◼
Controlling the Wolfram kernel state
We invite you to try out this update and let us know what you think.

Then you can use these tools by typing # followed by the tool name. For example, this computes the 1936th prime number, using the WolframLanguageEvaluator tool in a chat session:
It is not always necessary to mention the tool by name. If it is clear from the context of the chat conversation, then VS Code will automatically use the correct tool.

You will now get autocompletions in VSNB notebooks as you type:
You will also now get function usage messages when you hover over a built-in system symbol like Plot:
If you make any coding mistakes, the Problems tab will now dynamically detect and list these mistakes. For example, this code has an extra comma which is not correct and so the Problem window alerts you about this:

You can now select any code in your editor, press shift-enter, and see the output from that evaluated selection in a terminal.
In the terminal it will look like this:

The extension now supports improved control over stopping and restarting the Wolfram kernel connected to your VSNB notebook. You can now quit a Wolfram kernel from the toolbar:
The status bar now shows if a Wolfram Kernel is currently running or not:
And clicking on “Wolfram Kernel” in the status bar brings up a Wolfram kernel control dialog:
