How to control slider value font size?

I want to display a slider control in Manipulate that shows the current value. Of course, I could display the value in a separate field and style it however I want.

But I think it should be possible directly in the slider or manipulator control.

My problem is that I can’t control the overall size of the control and the font size of the value at the same time. Probably it could be done with the Appearance option, but I don’t know how.
