This Demonstration illustrates a memristor based chaotic system that can also be built on a breadboard. For instructions on building this circuit, see the Details section. The memristor was postulated as the fourth circuit element by Leon O. Chua [1] (the other three circuit elements being the resistor, capacitor, and inductor). In 2008, HP labs [2] synthesized a physical memristor for potential applications in nano-memories, thereby cementing its place as the fourth fundamental circuit element.
