Pascal's Principle

The figure shows a set of interconnected tubes open at the top. Colored water is poured into one of them. The level of the liquid rises to the same level in all four tubes, regardless of their shape. This is a consequence of Pascal's principle, whereby pressure is uniformly transmitted thoughout a liquid. In more familiar terms, "water seeks its own level".
