What is pure rolling? I am wondering what Pure rolling means and refers to in FormulaData:
In[]:=
Select[MemberQ["PureRolling"]][FormulaData[]]
Out[]=
{{InclinedPlaneRolling,PureRolling,Slope,MomentOfInertia},{InclinedPlaneRolling,PureRolling,Slope,ShapeFactor},{InclinedPlaneRolling,PureRolling,SlopeAngle,MomentOfInertia},{InclinedPlaneRolling,PureRolling,SlopeAngle,ShapeFactor},{InclinedPlaneRolling,PureRolling,Slope,MomentOfInertia,GravitationalAcceleration},{InclinedPlaneRolling,PureRolling,Slope,MomentOfInertia,SpeedDistance},{InclinedPlaneRolling,PureRolling,Slope,ShapeFactor,GravitationalAcceleration},{InclinedPlaneRolling,PureRolling,Slope,ShapeFactor,SpeedDistance},{InclinedPlaneRolling,PureRolling,SlopeAngle,MomentOfInertia,GravitationalAcceleration},{InclinedPlaneRolling,PureRolling,SlopeAngle,MomentOfInertia,SpeedDistance},{InclinedPlaneRolling,PureRolling,SlopeAngle,ShapeFactor,GravitationalAcceleration},{InclinedPlaneRolling,PureRolling,SlopeAngle,ShapeFactor,SpeedDistance},{InclinedPlaneRolling,PureRolling,Slope,MomentOfInertia,GravitationalAcceleration,SpeedDistance},{InclinedPlaneRolling,PureRolling,Slope,ShapeFactor,GravitationalAcceleration,SpeedDistance},{InclinedPlaneRolling,PureRolling,SlopeAngle,MomentOfInertia,GravitationalAcceleration,SpeedDistance},{InclinedPlaneRolling,PureRolling,SlopeAngle,ShapeFactor,GravitationalAcceleration,SpeedDistance}}
I think it might mean no sliding down an incline but I’m not sure.
For example, the first formula:
In[]:=
FormulaData[{"InclinedPlaneRolling","PureRolling","Slope","MomentOfInertia"}]
Out[]=
a
m
2
r
s
(+)
I
m
2
r
1+
2
s
In[]:=
FormulaData[{"InclinedPlaneRolling","PureRolling","Slope","MomentOfInertia"},"QuantityVariableTable"]
Out[]=
symbol | description | physical quantity | dimensions |
a | acceleration | Acceleration | {{LengthUnit,1},{TimeUnit,-2}} |
m | mass | Mass | {MassUnit,1} |
r | radius | Radius | {LengthUnit,1} |
I | moment of inertia | MomentOfInertia | {{LengthUnit,2},{MassUnit,1}} |
s | slope | MultiplicativeConstants | Dimensionless |
I understand that “Slope” in the list refers to the fact that the formula contains the quantity variable for slope, and likewise for moment of inertia, but I don’t get what relation pure rolling has to the descriptions of the variables or their physical quantities.
